How to Create a Strong Relationship With a Horse

Humans have many relationships throughout their lives, each with different people, and each with a different quality. Same with horses. You can have a great relationship with a horse close to you using this blog.

The first step to a great relationship with a horse is patience. It may take a while to build an extremely strong bond between the two of you. The second step is thinking of the horse and observing the horse. What does the horse like? Most horses like to be brushed, fed treats, to have attention, and to play. Brush them off, feed them healthy snacks that they enjoy, give them your attention, being as easy as a scratch on the forehead or on the neck, and make up your own game with the horse. The next step to a great relationship is being a good leader to them. If you're riding the horse and instruct them to try a new trick or move, they might not get it down the first try. Give them grace and your patience. It helps to put yourself into the horses shoes. If you were a horse, would something specific make you feel happy, sad, angry , nervous, or scared?

Signs Your Relationship is Progressing

There are many ways your horse friend is trying to bond with you. Can you pick them out?

Here are some ways that you can tell your relationship is progressing:

  1. Your horse buddy is coming up to you to greet you. He or she is excited to see you!

  2. Your horse blows on your face. This is a sign of affection horses present to their best friends.

  3. Your horse is calm and relaxed around you. This shows you that your horse friend feels safe when you're around.

  4. Your horse friend rests their head on you and nudges you. This is a sign that horses only show to their best friends.

  5. Your horse friend follows you (this is properly addressed as joining up) . This shows that they accept your leadership and have deep affection for you.

Today you learned a lot about how to build a great relationship with a horse and many ways to know your relationship is progressing. Thank you for reading today's post!
